One big massive huge girl crush

I never usually use the phrase 'girl crush', but nothing else seems suitable to describe how I feel about Fan Bingbing, the Chinese actress turned fashion icon who looks impeccable at every red carpet event, last nights oscars being no exception. Oh to have this lady's wardrobe!

Onto the next one!

London fashion week is over! It happens so quickly! But now it's time for the heavyweights of the industry with Milan and Paris the next two stops on the fashion week schedule. I'm so excited to see Jil Sander, Gareth Pugh, Dior and Comme des Garçons just to name a few- it's gonna be good! But what better way to say goodbye to LFW than with my favourites, Meadham Kirchhoff, and one of the most underrated designers of London- Giles.

The week I've been waiting for!

London Fashion week is here! Not only is it literally around the corner from where I live, but it's my absolute favourite of the fashion weeks, not only because its the time when Meadham Kirchhoff show, but because there's always so much new talent celebrated at LFW. As I was passing by Somerset house earlier on today's decided to nip into the BFC courtyard to see what was going on, and managed to catch a glimpse of The beautiful Marina of Marina and the Diamonds, as well as tonnes of eager fashionistas trying their very best to get into as many street style publications as humanely possible. Here are my LFW favourites so far: Eudon Choi, Fyodor Golan and Holly Fulton, undeniably because of the amazing colour pallets and PRINTS, those bloody prints!

New York, New York

NYFW is always a funny one, aimed at the sleek high society of rich American goddesses, sleek and chic in silhouette and luxurious materials. The highlight of New York for me every year is usually Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler, because they mix it up abit with tonnes of print and embellishment. So far,my favourites have been Thom Browne for his theatrical, over the top collection and Marc by Marc Jacobs- lovely prints and colour pallet! Here are my favourite looks I wouldn't mind welcoming into my wardrobe (oh, if only!)

Juergen Teller at the ICA.

Living in London is amazing for many reasons, my favourite being the fact that so many exhibitions happen here. The most recent exhibition to open on my doorstep is 'woo!', a look at the work of Juergen Teller. I love Juergen Teller mostly for his amazing fashion advertising campaigns, such as those for Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood. Here are my highlights...

The exhibition is small, but satisfactory. Some of my favourite photographs of all time have been included in the show, which made the visit all the more worthwhile for me. (Lots of Bjork and Helena Bonham Carter!) It is definitely worth a visit!

Scaling up

Working in studio spaces and on desks means most people - including myself - tend to work on small scales most if the time. The purpose of this drawing project is to encourage us to think about working on much larger scales than we are used to, challenging ourselves and our methods of designing. A day with John Bentley forced us to turn a tiny thumbnail image onto a sheet of a1. This is my drawing: a lot of lines!

A

Like the first drawing day, the final piece was a collaborative effort, using 49 sheets of a1 in total, to make this amazing version of a classic illustration of Adam and Eve.

A drawing day with Charlotte Mann followed on this task, as we were asked to enlarge a section of a print or an interesting weave from a few centimetres to a metre by a metre: ALOT bigger than I am used to working! This task was a challenge, not only due to the size of the paper but the task of making the enlargement as accurate as possible was quite difficult!

Extreme Drawing: Chair Sculpture

The first day of a new project is always exciting, and this one was no different. Asked to bring in a chair, yarn, tape and drawing materials, we were all a tad sceptical about what the day was going to involve. As you can see, the day involved building a rather fine art like sculpture from ten chairs, wrapping a tonne of tape, thread, paper and yarn around it, then drawing from it on one big collaborative piece. Fun, ey?

My drawings are the pieces in blue, brown and green marker pen. I like the finished piece, a big jumble of styles, marks and colours all rolled into one.
